Zoe urodziła się i dorastała w otoczeniu koni w stajni wyścigowej swoich rodziców. To jest jej miejsce na ziemi. Teraz marzy, aby pewnego dnia stać się dżokejem, tak jak jej ojciec. This French film contains everything a worthwhile family film needs. It's a wise story about growing up and recovering from adversity. With the help of an engaging, tender story, "Ride Above" touches on many topics essential for every teacher:
- disability and its many facets,
- the importance of passion and the development of interests in shaping a fulfilling life,
- a responsible relationship between a person and an animal (a horse) and the problem of animal abuse in sport,
- the theme of family and motherhood, a daughter's relationship with her mother, father, and brother,
- childhood and teenage depression.
This last topic is the focus of the script inspired by the film. It includes practical exercises and techniques that will teach students to cope with stress: a pressing problem for today's young people, who still receive too little support in this regard. The tips included in the scenario will also be useful for teachers and educators – we know how important mental health care is in teaching and how many challenges you face in your daily work.
